Turkey: Hague Conventions enter into force

Today, 1 February 2017, the 1996 Child Protection Convention and the 2007 Hague Child Support Convention entered into force for Turkey.

1996 Child Protection Convention

The Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-operation in Respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children entered into force for Turkey on 1 February 2017. Upon ratification of the Convention on 7 October 2016, Turkey became the 45th Contracting State to the Convention.

2007 Child Support Convention

The Hague Convention of 23 November 2007 on the International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance entered into force for Turkey on 1 February 2017. Upon ratification of the Convention on 7 October 2016, Turkey became the 34th Contracting State to the Convention.

Turkey has been a Member of the Hague Conference since 26 August 1955 and is now a State Party to a total of 14 Hague Conventions and a signatory to two Hague Conventions.
