Panama accedes to the 1985 Trust Convention
On 15 September 2017, the Permanent Bureau was informed that on 30 August 2017, Panama had deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Convention of 1 July 1985 on the Law Applicable to Trusts and on their Recognition (Trust Convention). With the accession of Panama, the Trust Convention now has 14 Contracting Parties. The Trust Convention will enter into force for Panama on 1 December 2018.
Panama has been a Member of the HCCH since 2002. It is bound by three Hague Conventions: the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, the Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, and the Convention of 29 May 1993 on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption.
