Andorra joins Hague Service and Evidence Conventions
On 26 April 2017, the Principality of Andorra deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention of 15 November 1965 on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters (Service Convention), and the Convention of 18 March 1970 on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters (Evidence Convention). Andorra thus becomes the 72nd and 61st Contracting State to the Service and Evidence Conventions, respectively.
At the ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands (i.e. the Depositary), H.E. Ms Maria Ubach Font, Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra and Ms Margot Aleix Mata, Third Secretary, represented the Embassy of Andorra. On behalf of the Depositary, Head of the Treaties Division, Ms Coos ‘t Hoen and Senior Legal Officer Mr Mark Groen also attended the ceremony. Secretary General Mr Christophe Bernasconi and Legal Officer Mr Brody Warren represented the Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH).
Andorra has been a Member State of the HCCH since June 2015, and is now a Contracting State to six Hague Conventions, the other four being the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, the Convention of 2 October 1973 on the Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions Relating to Maintenance Obligations, the Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, and the Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption.
