First Meeting of Latin American Judges of the International Hague Network of Judges

The First Meeting of Latin American Judges of the International Hague Network of Judges took place on 4 December 2009. The following Latin American States were represented at the meeting: Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. In addition, other judges that had been invited from Paraguay, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela were in attendance.

As a corollary of the work, and with the aim to facilitate the dialogue between the Latin American Network Judges and US Network Judges, a video conference was held at the US Embassy in Uruguay between judges participating in the meeting and US Judge Peter J. Messite. The objective of the meeting was to analyse the content, formalities and scope of direct judicial communications in international child abduction matters.
