Official Programme available for Service and Evidence Convention Anniversary Event in November
As previously announced, the conference, which is entitled: "Service of Process and Taking of Evidence Abroad: The Impact of "Electronic Means" on the Operation of the Hague Conventions", shall be held at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C.
Panels of distinguished international scholars and practitioners will discuss topics such as (a) the origins, theory and practice of the Conventions, (b) the role of Central Authorities, (c) how civil lawyers and common lawyers deal with issues under the Conventions, and (d) future challenges facing those who use Convention mechanisms.
Christophe Bernasconi, the Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, will provide opening remarks, and the luncheon keynote speaker will be the Hon. Mr Rimsky Yuen, Secretary for Justice, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The event will conclude with a reception.
