Costa Rica accedes to the Child Protection Convention

On 29 October 2020, the Republic of Costa Rica deposited its instrument of accession to the HCCH Convention of 19 October 1996 on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-operation in respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children (Child Protection Convention).

With the accession of Costa Rica, the Child Protection Convention now has 53 Contracting Parties. It will enter into force for Costa Rica on 1 August 2021. More information on this Convention is available on the Child Protection Section of the HCCH website.

Costa Rica has been a Member of the HCCH since 27 January 2011 and is now a Contracting Party to seven HCCH Conventions.
