The Republic of Moldova accedes to the 1970 Evidence Convention

On 24 July 2025, the Republic of Moldova deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention of 18 March 1970 on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters (1970 Evidence Convention).
At the ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, depositary of the HCCH Conventions, the Republic of Moldova was represented by H.E. Mr Veaceslav Dobinda, Ambassador to the Netherlands, and Ms Natalia Vremea, Counsellor at the Embassy of Moldova. The depositary was represented by Mr Jules van Eijndhoven, Head of the Treaties Division, Ms Paulien Muntinga, Deputy Head of the Treaties Division, and Mr Matthijs Herweijer, Policy Officer Eastern Europe at the Europe Department, while the Permanent Bureau of the HCCH was represented by Dr Christophe Bernasconi, Secretary General, and Ms Melissa Ford, Secretary (Diplomat Lawyer) and Head of the Transnational Litigation Division and Apostille Division.
With the accession of the Republic of Moldova, the Convention now has 69 Contracting Parties. It will enter into force for the Republic of Moldova on 22 September 2025. More information on this Convention is available on the Evidence Section of the HCCH website.
The Republic of Moldova has been a Member of the HCCH since 2016 and is now a Contracting Party to 11 HCCH Conventions.
