Conference "International Symposium hosted by the Doshisha University Research Center for International Transactions and Law", Kyoto (19 December 2015)
On 19 December 2015, an International Symposium was hosted at the Doshisha University Research Center for International Transactions and Law in Kyoto. The Conference gathered prominent private international law experts from Japan as well as from many other Asian jurisdictions. This event concluded a series of meetings of the Study Group on Asian Principles of Private International Law.
The afternoon session of the International Symposium focused on cross-border business transactions and the Hague Conference in Asia: in their presentations, Yuko Nishitani and Anselmo Reyes addressed the Hague Principles. Marta Pertegás followed by delivering a speech on the developments of the Hague Judgments Project, while Keisuke Takeshita discussed the Hague Choice of Court Convention and dispute resolution in Asia. Finally, Masato Dogauchi shared some insightful remarks on the Choice of Court Convention and the Judgments Project, using this opportunity to underscore that Japan should ratify the Choice of Court Convention.
