1993 Adoption Convention enters into force for the Republic of Korea

On 1 October 2025, the Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (1993 Adoption Convention) entered into force for the Republic of Korea following the deposit of its instrument of ratification on 17 June 2025.
The 1993 Adoption Convention has 107 Contracting Parties. More information on this Convention is available on the Adoption Section of the HCCH website.
The Republic of Korea has been a Member of the HCCH since 1997 and is a Contracting Party to five HCCH Conventions.
