2007 Child Support Convention and 2007 Maintenance Obligations Protocol enter into force for Paraguay

On 1 February 2025, the Convention of 23 November 2007 on the International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance (2007 Child Support Convention) and the Protocol of 23 November 2007 on the Law Applicable to Maintenance Obligations (2007 Maintenance Obligations Protocol) entered into force for the Republic of Paraguay following the deposit of its instruments of ratification on 25 October 2024.

At present, 52 States and the European Union are bound by the 2007 Child Support Convention, while 34 States and the European Union are bound by the 2007 Maintenance Obligations Protocol. More information on these instruments is available on the Child Support Section of the HCCH website.

Paraguay has been a Member of the HCCH since 2005 and is a Contracting Party to eight HCCH Conventions and instruments.
