<description>On 7 March 2020, the HCCH Convention of 23 November 2007 on the International Recovery of Child Support and other Forms of Family Maintenance (&amp;ldquo;Child Support Convention&amp;rdquo;) entered into force for Guyana, following the deposit of its instrument of accession on 5 February 2019.

<title>The Child Abduction Convention enters into force in Guyana</title>
<description>On 1 May 2019, the HCCH Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (&amp;ldquo;Child Abduction Convention&amp;rdquo;) entered into force for Guyana, following the deposit of its instrument of accession on 5 February 2019. The Child Abduction Convention currently has 100 Contracting Parties.
In addition to the Child Abduction Convention, Guyana is a Contracting Party to 4 other HCCH Conventions (Apostille, Adoption, Child Protection and Child Support). Guyana is not yet a Member of the HCCH.

<title>Apostille Convention enters into force for Guyana</title>
<description>On 18 April 2019, the&amp;nbsp;HCCH Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents&amp;nbsp;(Apostille Convention) entered into force for Guyana, following the deposit of its instrument of accession on 30 July 2018. The Apostille Convention currently has 117 Contracting Parties.
While not a Member State of the HCCH yet, Guyana is currently Party to four other HCCH Conventions.

<description>On 16 August 2018, the Permanent Bureau was informed that the Co-operative Republic of Guyana had deposited its instrument of accession to the&amp;nbsp;Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille Convention) on the 19 July 2018.&amp;nbsp;
With the accession of Guyana, the Apostille Convention now has 116 Contracting Parties; it will enter into force for Guyana on 18 April 2019.&amp;nbsp;
