<description>Today, 5 June 2024, the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (1961 Apostille Convention) entered into force for the Republic of Rwanda following the deposit of its instrument of accession on 6 October 2023.

<description>Today, 6 October 2023, the Republic of Rwanda deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (1961 Apostille Convention).
With the accession of Rwanda, the 1961 Apostille Convention now has 126 Contracting Parties. It will enter into force for Rwanda on 5 June 2024. More information on this Convention is available on the Apostille Section of the HCCH website.

<title> Rwanda accedes to 1993 Hague Intercountry Adoption Convention</title>
<description>
On Wednesday 28 March 2012, Rwanda deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption and has thus become the 87th Contracting State to this Convention. 
The 1993 Convention will enter into force for Rwanda on 1 July 2012.
