<title>Apostille Convention enters into force for the People’s Republic of China</title>
<description>Yesterday, 7 November 2023, the&amp;nbsp;Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (1961 Apostille&amp;nbsp;Convention) entered into force for the People&amp;rsquo;s Republic of China.
China deposited its instrument of accession on 8 March 2023, during the annual meeting of the Council on General Affairs and Policy. Prior to this date, the 1961 Apostille Convention was already in force in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions of China.

<description>On Tuesday, 12 September 2017, the People&amp;rsquo;s Republic of China signed the Hague Convention of 30 June 2005 on Choice of Court Agreements (Choice of Court Convention).
The Choice of Court Convention currently has 30 Contracting Parties (incl. REIOs and States bound as a result of approval by an REIO). With the People&amp;rsquo;s Republic of China&amp;rsquo;s signature, there are now 3 further States that have signed the Convention.
